The hands of God

Did you realize that Father God removed Himself for three hours from Jesus when He was on the cross? Yahweh is holy and has no sin. Almighty God was present the entire three hours while Jesus was on the cross, but He had to watch with no spiritual connection. In Psalms 5:4, “For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.”

The fate of unrepenting sinners caused Yahweh to separate His divine spirit for a moment in time since the body of Jesus became drenched with the sins of the entire world (Hebrews 7:26). From the very first sin to the sins yet to come, Jesus carried the burden of humanity’s transgressions. “So also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. (Hebrews 9:28)”

We remember that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human; the term for both is hypostatic union. In 2 Cor 5:21, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

So when Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” (Matt 27:46). The Triune Godhead, unified in their grief, called out for humanity to understand the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for a world that rejected Him. As a reminder, the hands of Father God, Father Son, and Father Holy Spirit bear the wounds of Calvary.
